  1. Film distribution is where a film is made available for an audience to see. There are a number of ways in which this can be achieved including theatrical releases, home entertainment releases (DVDs and Blu-Ray) and television release.
  2. A film Distributor is the company responsible for marketing a film. The way in which a film is exhibited to an audience is determined by the distributor. The release date may also be determined by the distributor.
  3. Reach is how far a film is distributed and the level of diversity in the audience and therefore, reach relates to film distribution as it determines the stretch of the product.
  4. A marketing plan is a set of activities involved in reaching set objectives within a certain time frame
  5. A distribution plan specifies how a company intends to transfer its products to retailers and consumers.
  6. Advertising is marketing that is paid for and guaranteed to show up, whereas publicity is what comes after the marketing so it isn't paid for and isn't guaranteed. Promotion is more short term than advertising and focuses on boosting sales quickly.

The Conjuring was distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and was released in 49 countries. In its opening weekend in the USA this film was shown on 2903 screens.
